retrospective of this month,, has been entirely focused on vcv rack, which i have been enjoying a lot can make interestinggggg sounds with it and have been also injecting it into more normal music so it is good to learn, dont know which one is my favourite out of all of thm, probably constellation it sounds the most like, something i would love to find you knowwwww. this one does not have any vcv rack it is analoguee recordings ☺️ . process was a little long and will be a little boring first layer was dont remember predal chain haha will try and remember it was, radio into pitch shift into bass eq into death metal into compressor into super fuzz into eq into daw, did first take onto tape but decided to not, added another layer with the death metal and super fuzz swapped around, sounded nice i didnt mix this great but both layers are there can hear. 3rd wall layer was contact mic homemade shaker box inside of big metal container i use for , harsh noise, its all battered from abuse haha, this layer was whipping guitar string around in there, cool sound, there was reverb on it too it was a long decay reverb it sounded nice, don't remember pedal chain i think it was just the reverb compression and one eq. drone layers, original idea was to try and make a wall using only death and the maiden franz schubert, heard it and found the swaying in and out to make me feel tired i wanted to abstract that motion if that makes sense.... stopped writing after i got off bus started writing when i am back on, busy days. anyways after testing this idea i ended up getting more... infatuated with loops, pedal chain of compressor 1 eq 2 delay 1 reverb looper + pitch shift, tried doing a bit of a celer impression with the compression sound but ended up more different unique. did 3 loops, one of which didn't get used, can use it for something else. i have bluetooth headphones now so i can walk around while listening, so made tea while listening to the loops lovely m. structured after obviously. sounds added in post recording, text to speech voice reading carissa s weird lyrics really slowly and quietly with super breathy voice and reverb, have used technique before on album called keepsake, inspired by album by uongarrieanette that is now deleted bsndcamp awwwww it was more prominent with the text to speech voice but it was so uniquely sad and cold i love i should try and get in contact and ask for it ANYWAY that is in the mix low, cant make out the words just breaths. included later on a spoken sample thing, will keep the source cryptic or whatever, more fun that way, mixed quite shit but feels good i think. the main loop part i find very hypnotic pretty i hope it is also for other people,,, whatever doesnt rlly matter it is for me. mixed mastered took quite long, layers are destinct, good amount of compression i think. cover is a photo of a storefront i took it is rlly pretty texture i think.... in the middle is aoi and hachinfrom monotne blue angel ect. title is a pop song i think, not particularly special to me but the title is gorgeous, he needs me , he needs me. things will probably be moving in a more pathetic faggot direction maybe title wise. quite happy with this one horray.
i think this title has been used by someone else i am not sure i probably should have checked but i dont know its nice. first track was made using field recordings from yesterday, one was walking in the hail and the other was walking through the park + snow :), there is another sample mixed in you can probably hear. drone is a bass guitar loop with delay and reverb and slow additions, three finger gallop very slightly so it builds. walls were done with this pedal chain.
blessed behringer pedals i am really enjoying the super fuzz i finally got one, the boost has an excellent sound when the sound source is already high gain it crunches everything out really massively.
walls were played through a bass amp and recorded with a phone. one of the layers on the second track was recorded straight to tape not through a bass amp, had death metal distortion in the pedal chain for that one. drones on the second track were made using the behringer wasp deluxe, i dont have a controller for it so it was done manually tuning the oscillators and looping, two pitch shifts on it so it is sparkly, delay and reverb. there are two drone layers like that, recorded straight into daw. there is compression on the whole mix lol i like doing that at the moment, some digital reverb. i think it is very pretty, hoping it translates. i had a rlly weird dream last night and i guess this is reflective, similar whatever, i will not elaborate. one of my favourites in a while i think.
last wall of the year, the second year of doing this stuff. i though i would do kind of a follow up to the last one i did last year which was vivid blue, it was based around violin and bowed guitar and field recordings and microphones. it is probably my favourite thing i have made for the silver dove, it is rlly special to me i think because of the time. the process of making this one was a little silly, did a bunch of stuff with a bass amp and pedals with laptop and wasp synth as sound sources, one layer i did rumbly bass end noise (which i used here) , one layer was a sputtering rigid pop through th behringer super fuzz and an eq which i did melodica drones and wailing kind of singing in the corner of the room over (which i used), third was another sputtering rigid pop through th behringer super fuzz and digitech death metal and an eq which i did melodica drones and singing in front of the amp (which i did not use). i also did a layer of drone with a glockenspeil (cant spell sorry) loop with a lot of reverb and some guitar rambling over (did not use). after scrapping too much i was like :((((( 😥😥😥 ended up restarting, i used a rain recording from a few months ago that had rlly good sound i cant explain and i looped it and layered it over itself a few times to make the loop points not obvious, recorded that layer with a microphone pressed against my phone to give it a shit sound. used a layer of rustling my bed sheets over my phone microphone and did the same with that, slowed some layers down a little and added some granular shit to one layer, recorded the same way. recorded myself dragging my bag across the floor with my phone inside and looped that same method but recorded with contact mic on phone speaker and through tube overdrive and eq. i think that was everything for the wall layers i dont remember, not mushc distortion here which is nice. in th morning i started doing the drone layers, started with the voilin stuff, couldnt find my rosin so i had to make do with it being a little weird, miced up with a contact mic wedged beneath the bridge and plugged into looper pedal into audio interface, had a couple attempts but kept going too quick. then recorded a bowed acoustic guitar loop, was a pain to mic up ended up wedging it between strings on the headstock, this loop did not evolve, made another one so that the two loops intersect and sway against eachother. recorded everything through a contact mic next to a speaker playing it so it would feed back and make pretty sine wave sounds, recorded to tape and recorded back into laptop with audio interface. had work so couldnt finish immediately, but after work i mixed everything i recorded which was a pain it was sounding ugly clipping things were barely present when i wanted them to be present whatever it was annoying i got there eventually, first mix i did had a shit bass end that was annoying so i re did it. outro is a recording from a few months ago of rain on th bus, it sounded rlly good and the window wiper things were squeaking rlly annoying , on this recording it sounds like birds, notched and equed like shit. cover is from monotone blue it is important to me, this year specifically the official translation came out and i was being annoying to th people who run th shops here to get it because the online listing was removed for some reason, eventually they did they are nice i got a copy iw as dissapointed they made haichi say dude a lot they made some of the dialogue suck, i like the shit translation because i like the bizarre nonsense pacing and minimal dialogue it is special, the translation is fine though just worse i am rambling. IT IS special and important to me , it is on th cover, background image is a photo of the book next to window, forefront image is from a scan of th manga i rlly like that panel. title is a word i like, haichi's spontaneous pathetic violence is what made me want to use it. i used it on a gauzed wings album as well but i like that i have used it twice now i should do that with other things. should call something blue cheer again. ok this was long
ok! this one i wanted to include more stupid amounts of reverb i dont know why i got the urge, recorded some meandering on acoustic guitar with a bit of singing using shit mic on tape recorder and slowed it down and pitch shi(f)ted it and soaked it in stupid amounts of reverb, added some little bits of variation in the drone which is i think nice. the wall is wasp + pedals the setup is 2 eqs 2 distortions 1 overdrive recorded to tape, some layers were recorded individually so i could bring them in after eachother. most of this was admittedly done in post but the wall stuff was very much not touched because i like stuff sounding like shit. the ending was a recording from a few days ago, idk i feel like doing acoustic guitar stuff these days i am not very good but i like doing it, maybe will try something with a bit more effort in the future. the cover i was trying to incorperate text into for a while and gave up because i want to see legoshi, background is ice on glass. hopefully someone likes it maybe.
i think because it is the end of the year i will try to do these more """"""""sentimental""""""" releases, i have so much shit on my phone and computer none of it will amount to anything otherwise, i like treating the silver dove stuff quite personal as well. ok first track is recording of wood fire, i just liked how it sounded and i love being comfy and warm by the fire. second track is a wall i recorded yesterday and mixed today, recorded i think it was 5 seperate layers, mainly inspired by that distorted souls within a corrupt vision album i last heard i wanted to make something with destinct layers like that, i used radio, pitch shift, death metal distortion, behringer vintage tube overdrive and behringer graphic eq. ok third track was a jam with me and someone else i dont remember who it was during a rehearsal everyone left to go get soft drinks and stuff, so i was messing with the guitar amp's built in looper and fiddling with the guitar and someone was going plink plonk on the keyboard, there is a longer recording but they were being atonal a lot i dont want that. fourth track was walking around in the rain, i dont think i was going anywhere i think i just wanted to record the rain, i put my phone in my hood to record the pops and walked somewhere dont remember, i notched the mids and make it sound pretty. i dont know it feels special to me but i dont expect anyone to like this one, cover has a blurry photo of me and my cat and a blurry photo from outside the window of a bus, not very interesting but i like it. titles were hard but i like them
made a wall on my laptop after work last night, had that earthy crackle that SP's stuff has but i make that stuff quite a bit, sounded nice though, good way to unwind. this morning college band for this project had rehearsal which i will be blunt about it was not good. i was quite a lot more agressive with my synth playing stuff today which sounded good but i might have just been in a mood or smthn, doesnt matter. rehearsal ended with the drummer leaving to do something and everyone else fcking around, not even "jamming" it was 3 people playing different songs at the same time (which you can listen to here (not invasive i asked for permission)), had a headache by the end of it. had a tape recorder in my bag and the synth all set up with pedals and all that so stayed after the rehearsal after everyone had left, used my phone as an extra recording. needed the headcleaner, really helped. came home and assembled the recordings together using some new plugins :D theres an 808 pattern in there as well that is mildly funny. i need to finish my university application soon so :/. too much to think about too much work too much stress not enough money for the shit i want not enough time do the shit i want not able to focus on anything important like im braindead or smthn. not really that into this one but i might like it more in the future if i feel sentimental or whatever. cover is an edit of cats drinking milk drawing very cute :). title is gg alin dagger in my heart reference :) thinking of you thinking of you thinking of you is a . good song ;). ok.

came home and wanted to make wall stuff, had all my guitar pedals in my bag still and took out only the ones i thought i needed. has been a recurring thing to get fixated with minimal setups and i have been using the 2 eq pedals and overdrive chain quite a lot so i put a noise gate at the end when recording the rain (which was done by taping a contact mic to the window so it sounds shitty :) ) and for the crunch wall i removed one eq and instead used fuzz and my death metal pedal. recorded everything to tape and ran it back into my computer after. made an ambient loop but my phone wont plug into my audio interface anymore so i had to do it on my computer. thankfully i had something recorded from a while ago (7 months ago :shock😲😲😲😲😲😲😲) to work with and i used delay reverb and pitch shift to make it sound like the stuff i used to make which isnt a good thing but i think it works well enough. cover image is stuff i like there is beastars there is nagabe artwork from monotone blue there is throbbing gristle (silly funny) there is tom nook and redd there is silly goat there is all sorts of stuff :). title is something i read around i think almost 2 years ago that i have remembered and wanted to use as a title since i think it fits. a little hastily made but i think it sounds nice. recorded 08/11/22, walls using wasp deluxe, microphones, rain against window, guitar pedals and some digital effects. drone recorded 02/04/22 using acoustic guitar and digital effects.
